The Weber Genesis Series Home Grills

February 20th, 2012 Appliances

Despite heavy competition, Weber remains at the top of the home barbecue world. They are one of the few companies who can afford a national advertising campaign, and you can be sure to see their commercials every summer. A lot of people wonder if it’s just hype, but rest assured that they make great grills for rookies and veterans alike.

If you’re looking for a new barbecue for your backyard, it’s always a safe bet to go with a Weber model. Although some of their higher-end products can be quite expensive, they are a one-time purchase that can last you many years. In fact, there are still people who have old Weber charcoal grills in their backyard to this day. Here are some of the features that come with most larger Weber models, and they all add up to great tasting food and fun family meals.

Nice Grill Size – whether you’re looking at a Genesis series grill, or a summit model, Weber is known for providing ample grill space. Even their portable model, the Go-Anywhere 1520 is larger than competing models. Weber understands that you need a lot of room to work with if you expect efficient results. It’s nice to be able to have a bit of leeway when it comes to cooking, especially when you’re working with such high temperatures. Larger models also come with a warming rack in the back useful for keeping your food hot or for toasting buns.

Separate Butane Controls – one of the best features that comes with larger Weber models is separate controls for each butane burner. So instead of one knob that determines the temperature for the entire grill, you can really fine tune things. This allows you to get separate temperatures for more delicate items like seafood and vegetables while still being able to cook thicker cuts of meat in another area. With a bit of organization and planning, there’s no reason why you can’t have your entire meal, off your grill at the same time.

Good Fuel Consumption – it’s never fun when you have to replace your propane frequently because it can be so expensive. Although Weber grills are powerful, they are gentle on fuel at the same time. There are also great natural gas models that can tap into a backyard line that will save you even more money in the long run.

Flavour Bars – one of the newest developments that adds a tremendous amount of flavor to your food are the “Flavorize Bars”. These are bars that fit under your grill and gently evaporate any drippings that fall onto them. This flavor infused smoke is then sent back upwards and into your food. You basically get the effective marinating your food in its own juices (in smoke form) while it cooks. Even old recipes and traditional favorites can be given new life thanks to this awesome addition.

Sear Station – the sear station is something that only appears on larger Weber gas grills. This area located in the center of your grill is able to reach optimal temperatures conducive for char broiling. So if you want steaks that taste just like what you would get in a restaurant, that’s exactly what the sear station is for. It can also be used on things like seafood to get a crispy skin. Thanks to adequate grill space, you don’t have to stop cooking everything else when you have the sear station at full power. There’s still plenty of room on other areas of the grill to go on with business as usual.

Oven Cooking – you haven’t really barbecued until you’ve tried something slow cooked over several hours. Whether it’s brisk yet or an incredible rack of ribs, that’s exactly what Weber oven cooking allows you to do. All you have to do is set your temperature, close the lid, and read the temperature gauge to make sure you have the right levels. Your roast can cook comfortably inside while reaching maximum flavor and juiciness. Just wait until you try a whole chicken, leg of lamb, or even a small turkey on Thanksgiving!

Weber is undoubtedly king of the grills and well worth the extra price you pay for them. This article comes to us from gasgrillsandbbq.com where the world of barbecue food is celebrated and you can find more reviews on every product ranging from portable barbecues to a traditional charcoal grill.
